I always feel uncomfortable about talking about myself. I
"knew" that I wanted to be an electrical engineer from the
time I was 12 or 13. For example, Myron Kirsch and I
collaborated on a scanning wheel television system for
the St. Louis Science Fair when we were in 8th grade. It
didn't work worth a darn, but it certainly demonstrated our
passion for such things. I built countless crystal sets, and
was even a novice ham radio operatator.
