My recollection was that Jack had been a computer engineer or programmer working in LA or possibly even at Cal Tech and retreated into the wilds of Mendocino County in Northern California. I recall hearing that he drove off the road and over a cliff in bad weather. He was a quirky and brilliant guy who could play boogie woogie like mad and usually had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth with his hair in his eyes. (submitted by Gabe Kingsley) |
For many years...my Dad and Jack's father were friends..in fact.. Jack's father many times referred to Jack as a wild young man in high school ( and I did not know him Jack very well but thought he ran with a lot of guys in the fast lane) maybe too fast for me... Anyway...Jack's Dad told my father how much he was impressed of how Jack went to California , studied to have a doctorate in Engineering....and was so happy for his son's success..... While some of us may have not liked or did very well in high school....here is one terrific example of how one of us grew to become a huge success....(submitted anonymously) |
Jack and I played together as professional musicians for 3 years in Los Angeles while Jack got his Master's degree in physics from UCLA. He than went on to get a Ph.D in small particle, nuclear physics from UC Berkley. Sadly, the part about driving off the road is accurate. (submitted by Stan Frager) |

One of my questions has been answered. I well remember the quirky grin and the fun piano playing of Jack Grodsky, who grew up in the same neighborhood as we. He was "different," but special! (submitted by Carolyn Miller Thomas) |
