did. Incredibly the position I took was at St. Louis University where I spent 29 years and the last 25 in the
Dept. of Pathology doing research in Immunology. I was head of the Department Graduate Program for 15
years and head of the Flow Cytometry Laboratory, a method used for both clinical assays and research.
We had 2 children, Aaron, a particle physicist now Associate Professor at Stanford U. with 3 girls and
Allison, a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist at the U. of Missouri, Kansas City in the Counseling Center with one
daughter (just born 12/28/05, what fun). To say I am proud my 2 kids is an understatement. Unfortunately
Estelle passed away in 1998 of ovarian cancer, misdiagnosed as is so common. (All women see the St.
Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness association at www.sloca.org for early warning signs and ask for the
CA125 test if you have any of these signs not clearly something else!). Amazingly, I meet Sondra Bierman
now Baron of our class soon afterward and after 2 tumultuous years we married in 2000 and now are going
on 5 years together. We say it was beshert (Yiddish, for good it was meant to happen) since we didn't know
each other in high school, never said one word to each other, and the few people who know both of us
said they would have never thought to fix us up, but yet we fooled everyone. Also incredible was that our
sons went to Parkway West in the same class of '81 and likewise didn't know each other! After I retired at
60, I tutored kids in reading in the city schools one day a week and then 4 years ago started with
'Springboard to Learning' a wonderful organization providing enrichment to the city schools. I teach
science to 3 and 4th graders 2 times a week during the school year and this is quite a challenge but very
rewarding.
