Ted Grazman
wife: Marsha Bly Grazman
St. Louis, Mo

Ted Grazman graduated from U.City High School six months before the class and spent the next six
months in the Army Reserves. He attended St. Louis University and graduated with a degree in
industrial engineering. Ted and Marsha met in Ted's sophomore year of college, 1959, and were
married in June, 1961. Ted continued to attend school, doing graduate work in accounting. He took a
job with McDonnell Douglas and worked on the early space program in the sixties. He then worked for
Anheuser Busch and Jewish Hospital, and at Jewish, realized how much he enjoyed hospital work. By
this time Ted was the father of Brent, born in July of '62 and David, born in September of '65. During
his time at Jewish, daughter Essie was born, in Dec. of 1967. And then, it was back to school for Ted!!
After a few years of health consulting in Chicago, the five Grazmans moved to Atlanta, Georgia, with
the help of a grant from the Kellogg Foundation and Ted enrolled in a PhD. program at Georgia State
University. One year into his coursework, son Mark was born and together, they earned a Master's in
Health Administration and a Master's in Business Administration. Mark graduated to preschool and
Ted did work as a researcher and professor, working towards his Doctorate. Upon completion of his
work, Ted accepted a professorship at the University of West Florida, in Pensacola, Florida. Ted
received two awards, in two consecutive years, as outstanding professor, but, alas, Pensacola was not
the place to raise our liberal Jewish family!! On Fathers Day in 1977 his family gave him a plane ticket
to St. Louis with the wish of us all returning home, and, in April of 1978 we were back in St. Louis.
Coming home was great, although, we had all grown and changed alot!! Ted was a health consultant
and then took a position as the Executive for the St. Louis Association for Retarded Citizens, where
Ted actualized himself professionally. Always wanting to help others and make the world a better
place, Ted make great strides for his clients, introducing integrated day care, community residential
settings, job coaching, etc. He watched his family grow and mature; two sons earned their PhDs, his
daughter, in the footsteps of her Dad, gave two years to the Peace Corps, taught school and earned
her Masters in Social Work, he paid tuition to Mizzou, Harvard, Duke, Texas A&M, Beloit and
Washington University!
