Robert E. Shepack, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend,
passed away at home February 29, 2008. He was born September 20, 1925 to Elmer and Ruth
Shepack in St. Louis, Mo. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan B. Shepack, daughters Lesly
Shepack, Caryl Dore, and Lisa Carl, son-in-law Mark Dore, sister Arlene Arconati, five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren. Dr. Shepack was president of El Paso Community College from
1976-1990. He served on advisory boards of the El Paso Museum of Art, El Paso Mission Trail, El
Paso Community Foundation, Certified Development Corporation, El Paso Renaissance 400, El
Paso Industrial Development Corporation, Texas Teachers of English to Speakers of Other
Languages, El Paso Literacy Coalition, City of El Paso Housing Authority, El Paso Arts Alliance,
Leadership El Paso, City of El Paso Economic Development Board, and Public Television Trustees.
Dr. Shepack earned his B.S. Ed. in 1950 and M.A. Ed. in 1956 at Washington University in St. Louis,
Mo., then his Ed. S. and Ed. D. at the University of Florida in 1969. he was a licensed architect in
the states of Missouri, Florida, and Texas.
