Kirk was the son of John F. Mee a "Management Field
Pioneer" & former chairman of the department of
management at Indiana University School of Business,
in Bloomington, IN. Professor Mee was a colonel in the
Army Air Force, and after WWII he was a consultant to
many US corporations as well as the Presidents
Truman and Eisenhower.

Kirk went to the University of Missouri for his degree.
He was an actor, and while at UMC, played many
performances including "The Hairy Ape in the 1960's.
He was in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival at
Ashland and San Diego, where he played a number of
lead roles in the 1960's.
