Joan's middle name was Zelda. She hated it. She was exactly
like the 1957 Dial (page 23), described: "This world belongs to
the energetic." We started dating after football season. She
was a cheerleader, and very athletic. Joan had eleven lines of
accomplishments under her name in the Dial. A nice photo of
her appeared on page 60 with James Edgar Baker.
Joan and I dated off and on for many years. She went to the
University of Oklahoma, and I spent lots of time in phone
booths calling her from Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN.

Joan was a wonderful gal. I lost contact with her when I moved
to California in 1962. I know that she was married, lived in St.
Louis with her husband Marvin Plattner and had three
children: Michelle, Danny and Jennifer, so if somebody out
there wants to add to this memorial it would be greatly
appreciated. She was a significant part of my life and is
missed.
