Stan Roodman bio: Graduated from Purdue in Chemistry (due to influence of Chemistry teacher Joe House (more about him below). As a junior I meet Estelle Knight of Chicago on her first day on campus and two years later we married after graduation. I had 6 months of work at the U. of Illinois Medical School as technician and part time graduate student before starting 6 months of active duty from ROTC. Unfortunately, the Berlin crisis of 1961 changed the time to 2 years but I was lucky because I was assigned to the research labs of the Chemical Corps. Graduate school at U. of Michigan followed with Ph.D. in Biochemistry and then 2 years post-doctoral research in Molecular Biology at U. of California, San Diego in La Jolla. I had the privilege of working for one advisor who should have won the Nobel Prize, and knowing 2 who |
