Like many us, I held several jobs before I found my future by purchasing a small book distribution company in St. Louis in 1974. This was also the time when Marcia stopped being a stay-at-home Mom and began her career as an interior designer. She worked at Famous-Barr to learn the business, went to school, then spent the next 20 years as a free-lance designer working with residential and commercial clients. She loved what she did, and I still hear from her former clients how wonderful she was. |
From 1974 on I have been working in the book business. From an organization with five employees selling books to retail bookstores, we now have almost 250 employees. We no longer sell books to bookstores, which has caused me a lot of pain because I have to buy my books at retail prices. Our business consists of a division that sells paperback books to schools |
