After graduating from high school, I attended Mizzou's
Engineering School. I then went to law school at George
Washington University. I practiced as a patent lawyer, first in
Seattle (1965-68), then in Los Angeles (68-94), and then again in
Seattle (94-99).
During the last ten years of my practice, I taught courses in
patent law and trademark law as an adjunct at the UCLA and
University of Washington law schools, which I found to be a far
more rewarding and sane enterprise than practicing law. So in
1999 I took a job as the Academic Director of Patent Resources
Group, where I am still employed, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
