Oblerlin, Ohio
After graduation from U. City I attended Wichita State
University from which I received a Bachelor of Music
Education. After a year of teaching in Ladue I went to
graduate school at the University of Michigan for a
masters degree in music (woodwind instruments) When I
graduated, I married Gary Nelson, a tuba player and
composer. We lived in Amsterdam, Netherlands for 2 years
and returned to St. Louis-he to work on an NDEA grant Ph.D
and me to teach in Francis-Howell and
Pattonville districts for 4 years. We went to Purdue University
where I taught music education to education
majors. In one year's time we went to Bowling Green
University in Ohio and then to Oberlin 1974. Gary has
taught computer music at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music
since then. We became parents of 3 girls Sarah, Alyce and
Johanna within a five year period!
