Susie Sachs was an established and well thought of dance teacher on the East coast, leaving St. Louis right after graduation. A group of our class mates including Roz D. visited Susie at the hospital and gave her gifts. We were told she had a brain tumor. Milton Sachs was Susie's father. Her mother (in those formal days we called her Mrs. Sachs) took care of her when she returned to St. Louis, but I'm not sure if she is still living. |
Susie, soared on quiet tip toes, her energy, beauty and strength of character, still circle our class and enrich the lives she touched. (submitted by Charlene Sherman) |
Susie Sachs was a friend from Jackson Park. When she was in the last stages of her life. I was invited to her home to share a few moments with her and a few friends. I was officiating College basketball at the time and was unable to get back to St. Louis in time to see her. I look back with fond memories of this beautiful girl. Her parents were very good friends with my parents. (Submitted by Ron Zetcher) |

Susie Sachs lived across the street from me on 718 Limit in the LOOP. We walked to (Delmar Harvard) together all the time, picking up other kids along the way cutting through yards, alleys and in the tunnels.Susie had long banana curls in those days and every morning her Mother used to curl her hair while I waited. We went all through grade school until I moved to Flynn Park. Then we went to Jr. & Sr. High where we were in dance (taberna)together.Susie always had a smile for everyone. She had an older half -brother Louis Sachs. When Susie was in the Hospital with a brain tumor Ronny Weissman & I went to visit and be with her shortly before she passed away. She was a very talented person, and always fun to be with. (submitted by Sondra Bierman Baron) |
